Five chevrons of solid silver, each one set with abalone shell, linked along a rigid silver collar. Handmade in Mexico in the 1950s, it has the bold geometry of mid-century Taxco silverwork, and the abalone shifts from green to violet to gold as it catches the light. It sits flat at the base of the neck, with the center chevron pointing down.

Nobody makes jewelry like this anymore. I found it, fell for it, and almost kept it.
