A cabochon emerald ring of remarkable presence — the stone a fine old Colombian, deep velvety green with the soft natural jardin emeralds of this origin and era are known for. The clarity of color is exceptional; saturated, vivid, and unmistakably old-world.
Ten chunky old mine-cut diamonds surround the emerald in cut-down collet settings — a hallmark of Georgian and very early Victorian work. The gold shoulders are worked in repoussé scroll, raised from beneath to give the ring real sculptural weight on the finger. Wear to the shank is consistent with the piece's age.
A Georgian-period ring of this scale, set with a natural emerald of this quality, is genuinely rare. Stones of this size in this period are typically spinel or diamond — natural emerald in this proportion is exceptional.
The vintage selection at Nora Kogan is personally curated — pieces chosen by Nora's eye after years of study and handling.
